Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the setup and changeover production / development wire EDM jobs.
  • Perform preventative and / or emergency maintenance within the wire EDM cell.
  • Program new wire EDM jobs and optimize / modify existing ones as necessary.
  • Suggest / implement enhancements to the cell to reduce cycle / lead times and costs.
  • Troubleshoot program and equipment issues.
  • Generate work instructions and visual aids as required.
  • Personal interaction with internal/external customers and suppliers.
  • Work with logistics to schedule wire EDM jobs.
  • Work with other departments as needed to setup and troubleshoot various pieces of equipment during resources shortages.
  • Adhere to company procedures / quality standards and ensure compliance to customer specifications and applicable external regulations (ex: OSHA, FDA).
  • Quote new work for internal and external customer.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 year Technical degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Fanuc and Sodick Wire EDM controls.
  • Experience with Solid Works and Esprit is desired.

Machinist/Tool and Die Maker

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and / or emergency maintenance within the Tool and Die department on various equipment
  • Program new CNC milling center jobs and optimize / modify existing jobs as necessary.
  • Machine parts by measuring, marking, and scribing stock setting up and operating lathe, mill, radial drill, shaper, grinder, etc.
  • Plans machining by studying blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specification, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Plan and maintain stock inventory for the Tool and Die Department.
  • Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Assist in developing plans to reduce Defect Per Million Opportunity, eliminate rework and scrap, and pass all audits (internal and external).
